Team 2910 made another very effective pick and place bot that allowed them to win the 2025 FRC Houston (World) Championship. This robot was Team 2910's take on the 2025 FRC Game, Reefscape.
Their robot features a swerve drivebase with Mk4i modules from Swerve Drive Specialties (SDS).
This robot uses a compact extendable arm with a cascade lift on a pivot arm. At the end of the pivot arm is a wirst that allows for the robot to independently orientate the claw from the extendable arm. This claw is a multi tool roller claw that is capable of grabbing both Coral and Algae. For more details on how this exactly works, refer to Macro Design: Preparing for the Game Drop subchapter 10.4.
Additionally, a separate roller claw is on the back of the static stage of the extendable arm. This allows for this roller claw to be on what is effectively a pivot arm for it. The roller claw in conjunction with this pivot arm can be used to effectively climb on a Deep Cage, scoring the alliance more points and potentially ranking points.
While not for the same game, as noted in Macro Design: Preparing for the Game Drop this robot design is very similar to another one of Team 2910's robot designs, specifically for the 2023 FRC game. It is cool to see how design ideas can be recycled to be used effectively for drastically different FRC games.
